Tom Cruise the Theologian

It does not take a Master's of Divinity to understand that there are some religions out there that are just plain scams. Christians should be able to understand the Scriptures enough to reprove those that teach fallacious religions.

I would like all people to have a proper understanding of Apologetics and how one can defend the True Religion. Without getting into VanTil and Presuppositionalism I thought that we could start PRESBYTERIAN THOUGHTS: Apologetics 101 with a lesson in what is one of the most popular religions at the present time.

Watch this to gain a better understanding of what Tom Cruise and his Scientologist friends teach. It is only about three minutes long. Comment on what your impressions were after watching this.

Brings to mind a Chesterton quote I read yesterday - "When men cease to believe in God, rather than believing in nothing, they believe in anything."

It is interesting that they explain away sin by basically saying that there are demons or alien souls or whatever creating the problems. Does away with personal accountability in one fell swoop. And of course, without sin there's no need for a savior. It's really not much crazier than any of the other religions out there, really, but it is more removed from reality than most. It's sad, really.

Did you know there is a Scientology mission right here on Alger?

How can you fictionalize fiction? I suppose L. Ron could do it.

We should protest the the mission on Alger. Then, when their lawyers come to sue us for defamation, we could all pull out our John and Jane Smith fake ID cards. If they tell us they know they're fake IDs, we'll sue THEM for defamation for calling us liars! It'll be a good lesson in taking a false religion to its logical conclusion; absurdity!

Steve, you in? We may need a little help here.

By the way Droll, they already came out with the movie. It's called Battleship Earth.

I didn't know it was any sort of problem in Grand Rapids. Scientology, as droll said, is really just transparent lunacy, and they just take themselves too seriously.

Also, the South Park Scientology episode was hilarious, I'm glad you put a link to it on here!
