Martin Luther on School Reform

I am afraid that the schools will prove the very gates of hell, unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures and engraving them in the heart of the youth.
-Martin Luther

How much more in today's society and in today's places of higher learning. May we love the Scriptures and seek out God in them as dilligent schoolmen in the school of the Lord Jesus Christ.

I think a problem is also found when parents tend to rely too much on the schools teaching their children via Bible classes (in private schools, of course) and Sunday school (church). There then lacks the teaching of the Scriptures at home. I saw this as a frequent occurence growing up in private schools. The primary teachers are to be the parents in this area.

Of course, I am missing the point a bit,....but I am sure Luther would agree. Why Xns even send their children to public schools is beyond me.....evangelism, right? ;)
