Happy Earth Day!

Whether you like it or not, today may be the real 'Earth Day'. The famous Arch Bishop James Ussher Chronology states that God created the world on the evening before October 23, 4004 BC. This date is followed by many in the Reformed faith as well as many evangelical Christians.

So, if you are a big-time creation science person- happy earth day. Almost all of creation science dating is based on Arch Bishop Ussher's work.

On a personal note, I do not think that we should be too dogmatic about 4004 BC, and definitely not dogmatic about October 23rd... nevertheless, it is fun part of our Christian heritage to note that men have spent substantial time and energy attempting to figure out when God created the world.

John Lightfoot had the same date. I am not sure who wrote first.

Ahh, but was Ussher using the Gregorian Calendar or the Julian? If Julian, then we still have another 11 days to wait.

Man, and I forgot to get it a present. Hope it's happy with an e-card, because that's what it's getting.

How...
...trivial.

Just thought I would let everyone know Oct. 23 is my birthday. How nice to know that I was born on the same day the earth was made. I was also born the year Elvis died. I wonder if there is any correlation?

Since the odds of this study being correct are slim to none, I doubt there is a correlation. But just in case, you might want to start wearing blue suede shoes.

Do I dare mention how irrelevant this study is? Are now supposed to be convinced that God really is real because some crackpot did a study? We don't need to find the ark to know God is real, we don't need a bit of cross to know God is real and we don't need to know the day in which the Lord created the world to know that He is real. Did we not learn anything from the Apostle Thomas?

Of course as Presuppositionalists, we do not require evidence other than the Word of God- that does not negate scholarship.

I need no ark, no cross, no date... that is why I said that we cannot be dogmatic about these things.

Some people are though about the exact age of the earth.
