Be Careful Lest Ye Fall

Many people who have professed faith in the Lord Jesus Christ have fallen away. The truth is, some people do not cultivate their hearts and attend the means of grace as they ought. Personal devotions slip, family worship is set aside, the Sabbath becomes less and less important, a sermon here and there will do, fellowship with believers becomes less important- the cares of the world choke out the seed that has been planted. The Lord Jesus said in Mark 13:13b "But he who endures to the end shall be saved."

I have been a Christian for 11 years. I have seen this happen time and again. What a terrible thing to walk away from the Lord Jesus and to let your love for him grow cold.

"Neither place, parts, nay, nor graces, will exempt any man from falling. O believers, what need is there to be watchful and humble!" -JAMES DURHAM

Who are you aiming this at? Odds are your arrogant piety will only harden their heart.

It is aimed first at my own heart and then to other believers who struggle as Christians.

Thank you for your kind and anonymous words. There is not one ounce of arrogance in this post.

I can vouch for Nate on this one, he's not being at all arrogant. His point is excellent, too - we all go through dry periods in our walk. I certainly do, anyway. Knowing that other Christians have the same experience is a great way to ward of despondency. Not the primary method, of course - that's looking to Christ. But it's a definite help.

Preservance, Perseverance, Obedience, Sacraments, etc... all caused by Christ's death and resurrection for the benefit of those whom He loved because it was His good pleasure...

Anon ii: Amen.

Mark: Thank you for understanding this. As Christians we need to be in constant self-examination to see whether we are walking in obedience to Christ and in unity with the saints. I admitedly fail, but with God's grace and the Spirit's aid, I continue. May we all grow in grace and live self-examined, spirit-filled lives.
